I’m confused, there’s very little softcore pornography on this site. where are the washed up, slutty female nascar drivers?
Things I Want My Daughter To Know: Valentines Day
It’s not a big deal. At least, not in the way we know it today.
Originally, it was a day to honor martyrs. A fellow by the name of Chaucer, whom I hope you study in school, is attributed with first associating it with romantic love. Somewhere along the way that turned in to cheap, oversized bears, cheap chocolates, expensive dinners, and chalky candy hearts.
Make sure your Valentine treats you with respect, affection and love all the time. That is what is a big deal.
The chalky candy hearts are somewhat delicious with soda, however. Perhaps give that a shot if you feel pressured to make a bigger deal out of Valentine’s Day.
My favorite movie is Wes Anderson’s Bottle Rocket. Love this poster adaptation from Reelizer

Sports In 140 Characters
The me from three years ago would have been nearly unable to sleep in anticipation of the Super Bowl. This year, I felt as though I were forcing myself to watch the game and the commercials.
What’s has happened?
In the past six years I have changed careers, purchased a home, and married my wife. That was busy, but manageable. In the past three years, though, I fell victim to downsizing four days before my daughter was born (our only child), and have started a company. Three pretty major events: losing your job, the birth of a child, the launch of a small business.
I guess something had to give, and that was television. Specifically, sports on television. I’ve just lost interest.
This isn’t to say that I do not enjoy a good game. I got mildly excited when the Steelers pulled within three points of the Packers this weekend. I think I even muttered to Jen, “This is a good game.”
I love it when the Kansas Jayhawks and the Missouri Tigers square off in basketball. It’s a great rivalry, and the games are generally outstanding.
I love it when the Royals beat the Yankees. Of course, this rarely happens.
I’d rather be there, though.
I love attending baseball games. Being in the stadium, surveying the field, and going through strategy in your head, just can’t compare to watching a game on television.
It’s easy to say that life has gotten too busy, and this is the reason for my lack of interest in broadcast sports. However, I believe another factor is my attention span has greatly diminished.
I have little patience for commercials. Announcers drive me batty. And simply sitting and watching a game is nearly impossible for me. I need to be talking to someone, or reading my RSS feed.
If sporting events could be summed up in 140 characters on Twitter, that would be ideal.
